Breaking the Seal

These quests are still in the game, as of December 7, 2009. However, the Cliknar will no longer respawn and are expected to be removed in the December 8, 2009 patch. It is assumed that these quests will be removed during the patch as well. This article has been left for historical purposes.

This is the third event in the Road to Underfoot.

Many remember the tale of Ognit and his friends when they discovered the Wall of Living Stone in the ruins of Old Paineel. Ognit breached that barrier and an army of elemental beings poured out into Odus, creating panic. Those elementals were only turned back by great effort and at great risk. Ognit was not the first, and soon it will be shown that he will not be the last. This time the barrier will be breached from the inside...

Protect Norrath and quell the threat of invading Cliknar soldiers!

The ground shakes across Norrath so strongly that even some of the closely connected planes of existence are affected. There is a threat growing in the ruins and it is time once again for heroes to fight in defense of Norrath. Deadly creatures are appearing not of stone this time, but of chitin. Where they come from and why they have broken the seal from the inside is unknown, but the danger they bring is real, and adventurers are needed to stop them.

Quests

There are two quests, with a 17 hour 15 minute lockout between them. It appears, according to the text given by Elanna Noraka, that you only need to do one of the quests to qualify for the Road to Underfoot, however this has not been confirmed.

They Came From Below

First you need to kill 40 of the invaders.

The "Protector of the Ruins" in The Hole will give it out:

Protector of the Ruins says 'Yes. My greatest creation has fallen. Now these invaders have spread out through much of the lower levels of these ruins. Some have even managed to escape into Paineel and Toxxulia. Rumor has even reached me of an incursion in a set of caverns off of Nectulos Forest. I need you to [assist] me and kill some of the invaders.

Homebrew Extermination Tactics

Then you need to collect some stuff. Some may be purchased from Crescent Reach, others are ground spawn in Lesser Faydark at the fairy camp.

Elanna Noraka in Toxxulia Forest offers you both quests. Protector of the Ruins will only give out the first one. "a concerned citizen" in Paineel is also involved in this.
