Bristlebane Day is Norrath's April Fools' Day. Bristlebane is the god of mischief. The Bristlebane event is tied to the Seeds of Destruction expansion.

For 2023, the quests began March 22 at 00:00 PDT and will end April 4 23:00 PDT. There are no new quests for 2023.

Mini Jokester, quest reward for group task This Ain't Right.

Quests

Introduced in 2022 are three new quests given by Tobo Gleemaker (Emissary of Bristlebane) in Crescent Reach:

Achievements

  • Bristlebane Day: The Gift of Laughter - This achievement gives you the suffix 'the Lunatic' and Painting: Haunting Laughter. At this time the exact details are unknown how to get this achievement. It appears to be that on April 1st some characters randomly get a Gift of Laughter buff. Upon zoning with the buff, they get the achievement. A thread on this is on the Daybreak forum here.
    • According to this post on the Daybreak forum, there is an alternate way to get the achievement:

-Have someone place the reward painting of Bristlebane in a house/guild hall you can access

-Right click the painting and select Stare Into Madness from the menu

-Eventually you will be ported to Shard's Landing and get the achievement (as well as the reward)

Got it in one right click on a toon...also got it on the 159th on another, so your mileage may vary

  • It appears that the suffix 'the Lunatic' is not being awarded depending upon how you get the achievement. This is reported as a bug and a work-around is listed in the Daybreak forum thread here.
  • Bristlebane Day: Fun on the Run - This achievement is granted upon completion of Fun on the Run, Even More Fun, and More Fun to Scare.

Bristlebane Day 2022

For 2022, the quests began March 23 at 00:00 PDT and will end April 5 23:00 PDT. New for 2022 are three new quests. Scattered throughout Crescent Reach you will find Practically Impractical Gifts to collect.

On April 1, most characters in the Guild Lobby were various illusions of treasure chests, jelly cubes, and vases. The background of the character loading screen was cat photos (the cat room).

2019

For 2019, the quests returned March 20 at 00:00 PDT and ended April 2 23:00 PDT. They returned on March 17 and ended on April 30 23:00 PDT. The reason for the return was that the quest This Ain't Right was not working.

On April 1, the game loading screen had Vah Shir a little more real. Most characters in the guild lobby were either traps, chests, or gelatinous cubes.

2018

For 2018, the quests returned March 21 at 00:00PDT and ended April 3 23:59PDT.

On April 1, most characters in the Guild Lobby were invisible, except for their primary / secondary items and their name (Shadowman illusion). Some were tumbleweeds, vases, or treasure chests.

Also, everyone's UI font was changed.

2017

For 2017, the quests returned March 22 at 00:00PDT and ended April 5 23:00PDT.

2016

For 2016, the quests returned March 23 at 00:00PDT and ended April 4 23:00PDT.

In 2016, the achievement The Gift of Laughter was added. See Quests above.

Bristlebane tells you, 'You'll be MUCH easier to draw like this!'

2015

For 2015, the quests returned March 25 to April 8.

2014

For 2014, April 1st began with Bristlebane randomly changing the appearance of people in the Guild Lobby. It was the same as what happened in 2013.

Also, on April 1, the theme music you hear when EQ starts was changed. If you have the music off (like I do) you could have heard it by playing eqtheme.mp3 in your EverQuest folder. You can click here if you want to hear it.

For 2014, SOE has announced that the quests will return April 9 to April 23.

2013

April 1st is Bristlebane Day! Keep an eye out for an Emissary of Bristlebane in the Plane of Knowledge, who will have a task for adventurers level 55 and up starting on March 31st.

I'm trying to draw a pretty picture of the Guild Lobby, but you keep messing it up. I made you much easier to draw now!' - Bristlebane

The classes got a rename.

The EverQuest team said this was "to correct some inconsistencies with many player's perception of class roles compared to their intended roles...[they] hope that the new names will help alleviate any confusion there might have been about their intended roles and class vision. We've also modified the various class titles as they change over levels in order to more accurately portray their progression through the game."
