'''Heroic Characters''' are characters that begin or are updated to levels 50, 85, or 100. Level 85 was added to EverQuest on March 12, 2014. On September 21, 2022, Heroic Characters with a starting level of 100 became available.  On May 15, 2024, level 50 will be available. In addition to starting at these levels, they also come with other benefits. You can boost any current character you have with this option.

{{Cquote|Heroic Characters allow players to select any class and begin their adventures in EverQuest at level 85 [or 50 or 100] with a full complement of gear, Alternative Advancement Abilities, food, drink, and platinum. This feature is a great way for new players to get caught up with their friends. It’s also great for existing players that want to try new classes, or for players returning to Norrath so they can explore content that they haven’t had an opportunity to visit yet.}}

Other progression servers require various expansions to be unlocked before Heroic Characters are available.  For level 50 Heroic Characters, ''[[Planes of Power]]'' must be unlocked.

After the trial period, if a player deletes their Heroic Character it works just like deleting ANY character on their account. It's just deleted. They won't get another free Heroic Character after 3/26/2014 (unless they offer these for free again in the future).

When you go to delete a Heroic Character that will can not be replaced you will get a warning, "Deleting CHARACTERNAME WILL NOT increment your available heroic character count. Are you sure? To confirm, type in CHARACTERNAME".

*There is a new quest, designed to be soloable by Heroic Characters.  It is given by Investigator Drolmer in Feerrott, the Dream and <s>can only be done by Heroic Characters</s> since the April 29, 2014 patch is open to all.  The reward grants access to Journeyman Tier 5 [[Mercenaries]].

In Feerott: The Dream, around the NPCs where heroic characters start are many "relatively weak" enemies you can use to practice your skills until you get comfortable. Once you are comfortable, you should consider questing in Feerott and Lower House of Thule, as many of the quests there will grant additional augment rewards to heroic characters.
Go to a lower level zone, and try your spells and AA's. That might 10-15 hours easily. Then, group with people that might help you. By the way, since you very likely wear the heroic gear, all people can recognize that you're a heroic character (you're clad in green gear). So, be upfront about your lack of knowledge.
