Editing Heroic Characters

'''Heroic Characters''' are characters that begin at level 85. They were added to EverQuest on March 12, 2014. On September 21, 2022, Heroic Characters with a starting level of 100 became available.  In addition to starting at level 100, they also come with other benefits. You can also boost any current character you have with this option.

For players that created an EverQuest Heroic Character between Wednesday, March 12 and <strike>Wednesday, March 26, 2014</strike> (due to an issue it was extended by one day) Thursday, March 27th, 2014 at 11:59PM PDT., the first Heroic Character each player creates was free.

* For accounts created before Nov 8, 2013, the free Heroic Character option is available one time per account.
* For accounts created on or after Nov 8, 2013, the free Heroic Character option was available one time per household (IP address check).

== Obtaining ==
Players will have the option to create a Heroic Character when they log into their account and use the Upgrade Character button from the Character Creation Screen.

Players can also choose to use the Heroic Character button to upgrade an existing character to level 85. That upgraded character will receive all the perks of being a Heroic Character.

Note that getting a Heroic Character will not add a character slot to your account.  You must have a free character slot or upgrade a current character.

=== Progression servers ===
Fippy Darkpaw and Vulak’Aerr servers will not have Heroic Characters until the ''[[Call of the Forsaken]]'' expansion is unlocked. These servers will not be eligible for a free Heroic Character since ''Call of the Forsaken'' will not be unlocked during the two-week trial period.

== Deleting ==
The platinum, [[Alternate_currency#Bayle_Marks|Bayle Marks]], food and drink a Heroic Character starts with is a one-time offering, rewarded to the first character you create or upgrade using the feature. If you delete your character and make a new one, you will not receive these items again.

=== Purchased ===
If you purchase a Heroic Character and delete it, you can replace that character with another Heroic Character. Only the first Heroic Character created after each purchase will start with platinum and Bayle Markes.

=== Promotional ===
During the [[Heroic_Characters#Promotional_free_giveaway|free trial period]], players can have one Heroic Character on their account without paying any Daybreak Cash. If they try a class and decide they don't like it, they can delete it. They'll still be able to make another Heroic Character for free during the trial period. Every Heroic Character you create after the first won't start with platinum, so be a bit careful about deleting these.

After the trial period, if a player deletes their Heroic Character it works just like deleting ANY character on their account. It's just deleted. They won't get another free Heroic Character after 3/26/2014 (unless they offer these for free again in the future).

When you go to delete a Heroic Character that will can not be replaced you will get a warning, "Deleting CHARACTERNAME WILL NOT increment your available heroic character count. Are you sure? To confirm, type in CHARACTERNAME".

* 15,000 Platinum
* Jungle Raptor Mount
* Two 24-Slot Bags
* Spells
* Thousands of Auto-Granted Alternative Advancement Abilities (AA’s)
* Full Set of Equipment, including weapons, armor, Power Source and Charm
* Food, Drink, and Ammo
* 100 [[Alternate_currency#Bayle_Marks|Bayle Marks]]

Notes: 
*The platinum, Bayle Marks, food and drink a Heroic Character starts with is a one-time offering, rewarded to the first character you create or upgrade using the feature. If you delete your character and make a new one, you will not receive these items again.
*When equipping the Heroic gear, the characters appear green (see picture top right)

== Starting area ==
New Heroic Characters start in a special new area in [[Feerrott, the Dream#Heroic Characters changes|Feerrott, the Dream]].   [[Feerrott, the Dream]] and the first two tiers of ''[[House of Thule]]'' have been adjusted to help new and returning players.

==First steps after upgrading==
===AA's===
*Go through ALL AA tabs (Inventory, Alt Adv.), and hotkey the ones that you are "hotkeyable". 
*Not a bad idea, to write down on a sheet of paper what they do. 
*Advisable, to put them on different hotbars. , e.g. utility, travel, veteran rewards, combat enhancers (get out of a sticky situation etc.).

===UI===
*If you can, copy one over from another character (incl. socials etc.).
*Make a hotbar for your clickies (the heroic gear comes with a good few of them)

===Merc===
* Get a [[Mercenaries|Mercenary]]
* (Originally, you needed to complete the [https://hot.eqresource.com/noheroismwithoutfear.php No Heroism Without Fear] quest to unlock tier 5 mercenaries.  Since mercenary tiers have since been removed, this is no longer necessary.)

===Fighting===
In Feerott: The Dream, around the NPCs where heroic characters start are many "relatively weak" enemies you can use to practice your skills until you get comfortable.  Once you are comfortable, you should consider questing in Feerott and Lower House of Thule, as many of the quests there will grant additional augment rewards to heroic characters.
