This it not related to Swarm pets

  • Pets have all the same slots as players with the exception of not being able to equip charms.
  • A pet's starting equipment can be whatever the Designer equips them with. Some pets have one wrist item, some have both, some have none.
  • Giving a pet a bracer or ring will only ever go into the "right" version of that slot.
  • Giving a pet an earring will go to the the "right" slot first. If there's already something in that slot though, it'll try the left.
  • It's not simply an AC check for whether a pet will equip a worn item. AC is the largest factor in the equation, but base stats (strength, dexterity, etc) are also factored to a small degree.

We're looking into this logic to possibly make it smarter.

Inventory[edit | edit source]

The January 17, 2024 game update added several commands to interact with your pet's currently equipped items.

  • /pet inventory check - This will return a list of your pet's currently equipped items.
  • /pet inventory destroy <slot name> - This will destroy the item your pet has in the chosen slot (e.g. Face). You can use the slot number to destroy a ring/earring/wrist if needed. The slot number is the same as for player items, type the /useitem command in-game for the slot number list.

The command [/pet inventory check] intentionally only returns the slots that are equipped. It's excessive to output 20+ lines of empty slots when most of the time pets only have a few items equipped. The lack of a slot being output is the indication that the pet isn't wearing something in that slot.

Primary and Secondary[edit | edit source]

The advice is to equip the pet of any class with a primary and secondary weapon. Pets can proc weapons, if they meet the level requirements for the proc. Typically, the mage summoned weapons are a good choice, with a selection of procs within: Fire, Cold, Magic, Aggro increase, Aggro Reduce

Back Slot for focused pets[edit | edit source]

Face Slot[edit | edit source]

Summoned Mask Aggro increasing masks

The Shaman gear hypothesis[edit | edit source]

Currently there is a hypothesis related to Shamans, based on a set of parses where a Shaman pet had significant reduction of DPS when equipped with mage armor and jewelry. This needs to be explored further,

  • What rules

No back item to mage pet the wierd thing with Shaman pets

  • Effects
  • Sources of gear: summoned, Bazaar, Crafted

Class Differences[edit | edit source]

Magician: Mage pets have the advantage that if a pet focus is equipped by the Mage when the pet is summoned, they will come with era appropriate mage summoned armor, jewelry, and muzzle (face slot). Enchanter: Enchanter pets (animations) come with a weapon and a shield. Giving them

  • Charmed Pets

Experimental Design/research topics[edit | edit source]

  • Will equipping a bazaar mask on a focused buffed mage pet reduce DPS?
  • Does Bazaar gear help the pets Offence (DI-distribution, max hit, spell damage, proc rate)?
  • Which slot(s) should be left as they are for Shaman pets?
  • Does the Shaman hypothesis hold true for other pets?
  • Does the Shaman hypothesis hold true?

Power Sources[edit | edit source]

They [pets] can wear power sources and get stats if the armor they're wearing has purity.
