Mounts appear to have the following speeds (slowest to fastest): Slow1, Slow2, Run1, Run2, Fast.
Speed matching
It is believed (but not yet confirmed) that if you purchase a mount from the Marketplace with Station Cash, the mount (assuming it is not by default a "Fast" mount) will go at the speed of the fastest mount you own.
Pegasi mounts
Posted by Ngreth, EQ Developer regarding the new pegasi mounts only:
“ | You can't go just by the spell attached to the item.
There is a script that runs on the item, that check for a flag on your character. The flag is set by mount items. Depending on the flag it casts a different spell. There are 5 mount speeds. 1-4 are readily available, 5 is raid/knight. the script then looks for that flag. If it find none, or a 1 to a 4, it sets the flag to 4, and summons a speed 4 (the spell you mentioned) If it finds a 5, OR that you are a knight with the appropriator AA... it sets the flag to 5, and cast the NEXT spell, which is the speed 5 mount. |
