Editing Achievements

'''Achievements''' are a goal defined outside of normal [[quests]]. Unlike the normal systems of quests, achievements are not given by NPCs and may involve everything from the mundane, e.g. simply visiting a zone, to very difficult feats accomplished during another quest.

To view achievements, just type /ach in a chat window or use the EQ Button under Character.  It also uses the default keyboard shortcut Shift-M.  To place a link to an achievement into the chat window, Ctrl-Left click on the image next to the achievement title.

Achievements were added to the game with the ''[[Underfoot]]'' expansion.

Slayer achievements were introduced in ''[[Rain of Fear]]''.

Every mob that you kill in Norrath has an achievement attached to it. The achievements compile based on the number of each type of mob that you kill.

The primary rewards for this new system are a new special AA and titles. As you kill more and more of each type of mob, you begin to learn more about the weaknesses of each individual race. Once you've slain enough of a particular group of mobs you'll earn a special [[Spells,_Songs,_Disciplines,_and_AAs|Alternate Advancement]] (AA): Banestrike (Special > Banestrike) that increases the base power of your beneficial and detrimental spells, songs, and combat abilities, as well as base melee damage.

There is also a premiere title you can earn for completing all parts of the hunter system. With over 721 different mob types in game, this new system presents a massive wall of achievements to be earned.

When killing an NPC that is part of a Slayer achievement, you'll automatically get updated and your current kill counts can be viewed in the achievement window.

=== Overcoming faction problems ===
One of the problems with getting some of the Slayer achievements is that it requires you to kill races that may have [[faction]].  You can overcome this problem by killing mobs of the races in zones where they do not have faction (or the faction is irrelevant).

Some examples:

* Erudites in [[Erudin Burning]].
* Dwarves / Gnomes in ''[[Underfoot]]''.
* The Devastation zone has a lot of player races. 
* The ''[[Seeds of Destruction]]'' expansion has various player races as mobs.
* Gnomes in ''Secrets of Faydwar''. 
* [[Chapterhouse of the Fallen]] has a lot of these races as well. 
* Ogres in the Toskirakk zone.
* Halflings and Elves in [[Al'Kabor's Nightmare]].
* Human pirates in The Buried Sea.
* Humans and Elves in Bloody Kithicor and Old Commonlands.
* Fairicide - Kill wood nymphs in Dragonscale Hills.  The faction can help complete some quests. 


If you do ruin a faction, you ''might'' be able to fix it by purchasing potions from the [[Alternate_currency#Loyalty_Tokens_.28Crowns.29|Loyalty vendor]].

=== Locating mobs ===
In addition to the Slayer links above, some further assistance in locating mobs.

* Manticores - While you can farm their rare appearances in [https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zone.html?zstrat=110 Eastern Wastes] near the north west giant fort, using  [[Lost Dungeons of Norrath]] (LDoN) adventures is likely to be faster. Go to the LDoN camp at Everfrost Peaks and request an adventure (a group with two players and one mercenary are the minimum required). Easiest to do are to get boss kill adventures. You want adventures in these zones with these bosses:

:* The Grand Library - Bilach of Avarice, Riddlesting, Sionul the Savage
:* The Heart of the Menagerie - Synarcanic Essence, Synarcanic Presence, The Fireborn
:* The Morbid Laboratory - The Flesh of Osoros, Painsinger, The Nibbler
:* The Theater of Imprisoned Horrors - Orgogzolok, Soulroar, Jebreusulun

::Should the adventure offered to you have a different boss to kill than one of the ones listed above, you can drop the adventure and after a minute or so, request another. Manticores may be in other LDoN zones and missions, these are just the ones known.

=== Banestrike ===
The [https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/game-update-notes-march-15-2023.289389/ March 15, 2023 game update] overhauled the Banestrike ability in order to provide a more consistent and appreciable power increase as well as reduce zone latency caused by its previous functionality. Rather than periodically dealing direct damage to your target, based on its race, Banestrike now provides you a 2, 4, 7, and 10% increase to the base power of your beneficial and detrimental spells, songs, and combat abilities, as well as base melee damage.  This bonus works on all targets, not just the races slayed.

The Banestike AA is found in the Alternate Advancement Window under the Special tab.

You get 2% for completing any single one in any of the Slayer achievements. Then 4%, 7%, 10% from doing each of the three in the General tab:

* A Force of Nature
* Highly Decorated
* Progressive

The Megadeath achievement is just a combo of all three, once you have that you should have 10%.

Collection items were introduced in ''[[Rain of Fear]]''. The items each fit into unique sets, and provide additional insight into the lore and stories of EverQuest. 

There are two ways to gather these collections. Some of the items are found through drops. Others are placed out in the open in the zone and "sparkle" in order to grab the adventurer's attention and promote exploration. The items and collections are themed to each area. For example, you may collect Beard Styles off of Coldain and Frost Giants.

In addition to the achievements they unlock, you'll also get rewards for completing each of the various collections. You will receive approximately 20% of the XP that would be necessary for the level each collection is intended for, as well as another 20% for completion of the entire zone. Some collections also come attached with items and titles.

Many of these collection items are tradable.

A collectible item will have the "Collectible" [[Items#Item_tags|tag]] in the item display window.

To collect an item, right click on the item. When collecting an item you'll receive a notification message.  Collection [[achievements]] will then update.
