Nobles are an alternate currency type added in the game on September 17, 2014.  The purpose of Nobles is to enable large money transactions, where the Platinum piece is not enough.  They're intended primarily as a way for players to transfer larger amounts of money than the system can currently allow otherwise.

They cost 110,245 platinum to buy and sell back to a merchant for 100,000 platinum.  Nobles stack up to 20. They are sold by at least one guard near every starting city's banker, in the Plane of Knowledge, in the Bazaar and Barter sections of the Bazaar zone, and in gypsy and adventurer camps. All NPCs should be Findable (Ctrl-F) and will have the title "Noble Exchange" or "Parcels and Noble Exchange".
