Claws of Veeshan (CoV) is EverQuest's 27th expansion. It was announced on October 14, 2020. Pre-orders and Beta began on October 21, 2020. It was released on December 8, 2020.

Getting to CoV

• Kael Drakkel (Torment of Velious) has a zone connection with Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).

• The guild hall teleportation assistant sells Othmir Clamshell for 446 platinum pieces that will change the guild portal to teleport you to the Othmir camp in Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).

• Druids and Wizards have ports to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan). Self only at level 103, group and others at level 104. Druids and Wizards can buy the spells from Chanter Bjiatel (Teleportation Spells) in the south-east part of Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).

• Skyshrine Crystal - Claim item personal teleport device. Obtained with purchase of the Collector's, Premium Edition, or Family & Friends Edition. Ports to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).

• Skyshrine Dragon Brazier - Claim item house or guild hall teleport device. Obtained with purchase of the Premium Edition or Family & Friends Edition. Ports to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).

• The Sleeper's Tomb (Claws of Veeshan) can only be entered from The Eastern Wastes (Torment of Velious).

Progression

The Ice Moves (Allakhazam, EQResource) is a Torment of Velious Partisan of Kael Drakkel quest.

Raid Progression

There are three tiers of raids, and each tier will open one month per tier after the expansions launches. So, tier 1 will become accessible one month after the expansion launches. Tier 2 two months and tier 3 three months after the expansion opens. This is the same process used for Torment of Velious raids.

Spells

NPC spell merchants in The Western Wastes (Claws of Veeshan)

Six months after the release of Claws of Veeshan, the ability to "trade down" (exchange a higher level spell item for a lower level one) will be enabled.

Rank I spells can be purchased from NPC merchants in The Western Wastes (Claws of Veeshan) in the south-east part of the zone, south of the tunnel to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan). The NPCs are Wiltie MacHadden (Priest Spells), Beestibo Saibotaz (Caster Spells), Kimbrose Galivan (Hybrid Abilities), and Knox Ridordy (Melee Tomes). Each spell or tome costs around 4,000 platinum.

Rank II

Rank II spells are gotten by clicking Bloodmarked Velium Gem drops from named mobs or randomly off of trash mobs. Bloodmarked Velium Gems can also grant Rank II Torment of Velious spells.

Rank III spells are gotten from clicking Dragontouched Runes gotten from raid chests in CoV raids. Dragontouched Runes can also grant Rank III Torment of Velious spells.

Progressive spells

Claws of Veeshan includes an upgrade to the Progressive spells called Composite. The base spells/discs/songs are sold by NPC vendor Krykorn Elsonower (Progressive Abilities) in The Western Wastes (Claws of Veeshan) in the south-east part of the zone, south of the tunnel to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).

Visible armor

Visible armor is created using a dropped item "Faded Armor" combined with either Snowsquall Refined Velium (~21,000 platinum), Blizzard Refined Velium (~26,000 platinum), or Hoarfrost Refined Velium (~37,000 platinum) and the proper class emblem. The refined velium may be purchased from Olwen (Merchant) in The Western Wastes (Claws of Veeshan) in the south-east part of the zone, south of the tunnel to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan). The class emblem may be purchased from vendors at the small bank in Plane of Knowledge (Plate/Chain classes at Blacksmith Gerta (Smithing Merchant), Silk/Leather classes at Tailor Kujen (Tailoring Merchant), among other places.

Group

Tier 1 armor is known as Faded Snowsquall. Tier 2 armor is known as Faded Blizzard.

Raid

Raid armor is known as Faded Hoarfrost.

Tradeskilled

There is a set of group tradeskilled, Velium Threaded, and one of raid tradeskilled, Velium Endowed. Like Torment of Velious, the tradeskilled armor is better than the dropped.

Tradeskilled

Some tradeskill items, as well as new recipe books, can be purchased from Olwen (Merchant) in The Western Wastes (Claws of Veeshan) in the south-east part of the zone, south of the tunnel to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).

Chase

There are no new extremely rare raid level items in CoV. The chase items from Torment of Velious do have a chance to drop in CoV.

Various

• In addition to the mounts gotten from the Collector's, Premium, and Family & Friends Editions, a Winter Jackalope Saddle may be obtained from completing the General achievement The Frozen One.
• An Ice Bound Ulthork familiar may be obtained from completing the General achievement Paragon of Claws of Veeshan.
• The trophy Temple Torchey may be obtained from completing the General achievement Tundra Excavator.

Alternate currency

Claws of Veeshan introduces two new alternate currency types:

• Restless Mark - Obtained from missions in CoV. Used to buy items from Tanin Gleamstone (Group and Parcel Merchant) in The Western Wastes (Claws of Veeshan) in the south-east part of the zone, south of the tunnel to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).
• Warforged Emblem - Obtained from raids in CoV. Used to buy raid items from Morton Stonebreaker in The Western Wastes (Claws of Veeshan) in the south-east part of the zone, south of the tunnel to Cobalt Scar (Claws of Veeshan).

Lore

Claws of Veeshan continues the tales that began in Torment of Velious. Velious is overwhelmed with writhing ice. Frozen undead swarm everywhere. The few survivors that remain throw aside old hatreds -- for now at least -- and band together to survive.

Follow the chilling trail of ice into the lands dominated by the dragons of Velious. Find the source of the mysterious and restless ice and put an end to the dangers that have enveloped the entire continent.

It is time for the bravest heroes of Norrath to challenge the dragons of Velious and put an end to the deadly magic that has tormented the citizens of the continent.

The heroes of Norrath arrive to help them, but they have not discovered the source of the deadly ice. The remaining giants of Kael Drakkel, now more able to move around their city, carve a tunnel out to the Cobalt Scar.

Rise to the challenge! Face the ancient dragons of Velious and bring them to account for their actions!
